If you encounter a quota limit error when trying to add a new OTTO site — even though your OTTO slots appear available — the most likely cause is your **Site Audit project** quota. OTTO Sites and Site Audit Projects are two separate quotas, but OTTO always attaches to a Site Audit project for the same domain. This article explains how the two quotas work together and how to free up space.

## **📦 How the Two Quotas Work**

Your plan includes two **separate** limits:

- **OTTO Sites** — the number of sites that can have OTTO active.
- **Site Audit Projects** — the number of Site Audit projects you can run.

They are not one shared pool, but they are connected: adding OTTO to a site requires that site's **Site Audit project** to exist. If the domain does not already have one, a Site Audit project is created automatically first, and then the OTTO project is added.

- If the domain **already has** a Site Audit project, adding OTTO uses **one OTTO site slot** only.
- If the domain is **new**, a Site Audit project will be created automatically first, so you need a free **Site Audit project slot** (for that domain's Site Audit) **and** a free **OTTO site slot**.

For example, if all your Site Audit project slots are in use by other domains, you cannot add OTTO to a brand-new domain, even if you still have OTTO site slots available.

## **🚨 Why the Error Appears**

The error appears when one of the two quotas is full: either your OTTO Sites limit is reached, or the new domain has no Site Audit project and your Site Audit Projects limit is reached.

## **✅ How to Resolve the Conflict**

1. Check your **OTTO Sites** usage against your OTTO Sites limit.
2. Check your **Site Audit Projects** usage against your Site Audit Projects limit.
3. If Site Audit Projects is full, remove Site Audit projects for domains you no longer need to free a slot for the new domain.
4. If OTTO Sites is full, remove OTTO from sites you no longer manage, or add OTTO site slots with an OTTO top-up.
5. Try adding the OTTO site again.

## **💡 Tips for Managing Your Quota**

- **Review both quotas regularly** so you only use slots for domains you are actively working on.
- **Remember OTTO top-ups add OTTO site slots only** — they do not increase your Site Audit Projects limit.
- **Plan ahead when onboarding new clients:** before adding OTTO to a new domain, confirm you have a free Site Audit project slot and a free OTTO site slot.
