When publishing a press release through Signal Genesys, you may encounter a **401 'API Token is invalid'** error. This means the API key connected to your Signal Genesys account could not be authenticated. The press release will not publish until this is resolved.

This error is generally caused by an issue with the API key configured for your Signal Genesys integration — for example, the key may have been entered incorrectly, regenerated in Signal Genesys without being updated in Search Atlas, or it may lack the necessary permissions.

## **⚙️ What to Check**

- **Verify the API key in Signal Genesys:** Log in to your Signal Genesys account and locate your API key in your account settings. If you are unsure where to find it, consult Signal Genesys's own documentation or support.
- **Update the key in Search Atlas:** Once you have a valid API key from Signal Genesys, navigate to the Signal Genesys integration area within Search Atlas and replace the existing key with the new one. Save your changes.
- **Retry publishing:** After updating the key, attempt to publish your press release again to confirm the error is resolved.
- **Check for typos or extra spaces:** Always copy and paste your API key directly — never type it manually. Even a single extra space will cause a validation failure.
- **Confirm API permissions:** Ensure the key you are using has the permissions required to publish press releases. If you are unsure, check your Signal Genesys account plan or contact Signal Genesys support to verify the key's scope.
