## **📋 Overview**

Content Genius uses two separate consumption units when generating SEO content: **tokens** and **credits**. Understanding how each is used — and where to track your remaining balance — helps you plan content production efficiently and avoid unexpected interruptions mid-workflow.

## **🔍 What Are Tokens vs. Credits in Content Genius?**

These two units serve different purposes within the platform:

- **Tokens** are consumed by the AI writing engine each time Content Genius generates or rewrites article content. Token usage scales with the length and complexity of the output produced.
- **Credits** are the platform-level currency deducted for specific actions, such as generating a new article or adding a targeted keyword to an article brief.

Both units are tracked separately, so it is important to monitor each one independently to avoid running out mid-project.

## **💳 Credit Cost Per Article and Per Targeted Keyword**

The following credit costs apply when using Content Genius:

- **Per generated article:** Each article you generate using the **Write an article** or **Write with AI in Bulk** workflow consumes **3 credits**.
- **Per targeted keyword:** Each targeted keyword you add to an article brief consumes **1 credit**.

These costs apply regardless of whether you use the standard single-article flow or the bulk generation option. Credits are deducted at the moment of generation, not at the time of brief creation.

## **🗺️ How to Navigate to Content Genius**

To access Content Genius and begin generating articles, follow these steps:

1. Log in to your Search Atlas account.
2. In the **left sidebar**, click **Content**.
3. Select **Content Genius** from the expanded menu.
4. You will land on the Content Genius dashboard at **/content/seo-content-assistant**, where you can choose to **Write an article**, **Write with AI in Bulk**, or **Write it yourself**.

## **📊 Where to Check Your Remaining Token and Credit Balance**

You can monitor your remaining credits and usage activity from the Billing section of your account. Follow these steps:

1. Click your **avatar** in the **top-right corner** of the platform to open the **Account Menu**.
2. Select **Billing** from the dropdown menu.
3. Open the **Activity Log** tab (Account Menu → Billing → Activity Log) to review a detailed history of credit consumption, including the type of action performed and who performed it.
4. Open the **Plans & Top-ups** tab to view your current plan allowances and purchase additional credits or top-ups if needed.

The **Activity Log** tab is especially useful for agency accounts with multiple team members, as it shows which user triggered each credit deduction under the **Performed By** column.

## **📦 What Happens When You Run Out of Credits or Tokens?**

If your credit or token balance is depleted, Content Genius will be unable to complete new article generation requests until your balance is restored. To avoid workflow interruptions:

- Regularly review your **Activity Log** to track consumption trends.
- Use the **Plans & Top-ups** tab to add more credits before your balance runs low.
- If you are running bulk generation campaigns, estimate total credit cost in advance by multiplying the number of articles by **3 credits each**, then adding **1 credit per targeted keyword** across all briefs.

## **💡 Tips for Managing Credit Usage Efficiently**

- Prepare and review all article briefs before generating, so you do not waste credits on articles that require immediate rewrites.
- When using **Write with AI in Bulk**, double-check your keyword list before submitting, since each keyword added to a brief costs 1 credit.
- Admin users can monitor team-wide usage through the **Activity Log** to identify high-consumption patterns and plan top-ups proactively.
