## **🔍 Why You Are Seeing Two Heatmaps**

If you own or manage a single business but see two separate heatmaps inside Search Atlas, this is almost always because there are two distinct Google Business Profile (GBP) listings connected to your account. Search Atlas generates one heatmap per GBP listing, so two listings will always produce two heatmaps.

This is not necessarily a problem. There are several **legitimate reasons** a single business owner intentionally maintains more than one GBP listing, and Search Atlas is designed to support that workflow.

## **✅ When Multiple GBP Listings Are Allowed by Google**

Google permits a single business owner to maintain multiple GBP listings in the following scenarios:

- **Different physical locations:** Each address where customers can visit or be served in person qualifies for its own listing.
- **Franchise or multi-unit businesses:** Each franchise unit can have its own listing, even if the same person or company owns them all.
- **Distinct service-area businesses (SABs):** If your business serves clearly separate geographic territories and you want to track local visibility independently for each, Google allows separate SAB listings provided they meet its guidelines.
- **Departments within a business:** For example, a car dealership's sales department and service department can each have a dedicated listing.

If your situation matches any of the above, having two heatmaps in Search Atlas is expected and correct behaviour — not an error.

## **📍 How Each Heatmap Is Generated**

Every heatmap in Search Atlas is tied to one GBP project. When you add a GBP listing under **Left sidebar → Local → GBP Projects**, the platform creates a separate project for that listing and tracks its local search visibility independently. The heatmap visualises how prominently that specific listing appears across a grid of geographic points for your chosen keywords.

Because each listing competes in local search on its own merit, the two heatmaps may look very different — even if both listings represent the same brand — because they target different locations, service areas, or keyword sets.

## **⚙️ How to Manage Multiple GBP Projects in Search Atlas**

1. Go to **Left sidebar → Local → GBP Projects** to see all your GBP projects listed on the main page.
2. Select the first project to view its heatmap, ranking data, reviews, posts, and tasks.
3. Return to **Left sidebar → Local → GBP Projects** and select the second project to review its individual heatmap.
4. Use **Left sidebar → GBP Projects → Overview** within each project to compare overall visibility scores between the two listings side by side by switching projects.
5. Manage location-specific content separately: use **Left sidebar → Local → Posts** and **Left sidebar → Local → Reviews** (GBP Reviews) within each project to keep each listing's activity consistent and up to date.

Keeping both projects active and well-maintained ensures that Search Atlas accurately reflects the real-world performance of each listing.

## **🛠️ Optimising Each Listing Independently**

Because the two heatmaps reflect two separate listings, you should treat each one as its own SEO asset. Here are key practices:

- **Use location-specific keywords:** Target keywords that reflect the actual service area or address of each listing. Avoid using identical keyword sets if the listings serve different areas.
- **Keep NAP data consistent:** Ensure the Name, Address, and Phone number for each listing match exactly what appears on your website and local citations. Use **Left sidebar → Local → Local Citations** to audit citation accuracy for each project.
- **Post and respond to reviews separately:** Activity signals matter for each listing individually. Maintain a regular posting schedule and respond to reviews under each project via **Left sidebar → Local → Posts** and **Left sidebar → Local → Reviews** (GBP Reviews).
- **Upload relevant media per location:** Use **Left sidebar → Local → GBP Projects → Media Library** within each project to add photos that are specific and relevant to that listing's location or service area.

## **⚠️ How to Tell If the Second Listing Is Accidental**

Not every case of two heatmaps is intentional. You may have a duplicate listing created accidentally if:

- Both listings share the exact same address and phone number.
- One listing was created by a third party or by Google automatically.
- You did not intentionally add the second GBP project in Search Atlas.

If you suspect one of your listings is an unintended duplicate, log in to **Google Business Profile Manager** at business.google.com to review both listings. Google's guidelines provide a process for requesting duplicate removal or merging listings that represent the same location. Once resolved in Google, remove the corresponding project from Search Atlas under **Left sidebar → Local → GBP Projects** to keep your heatmap data accurate.

## **📋 Quick Reference**

- **Two heatmaps = two GBP projects** — this is by design, not a platform bug.
- Multiple listings are legitimate for multi-location, franchise, department, or separate service-area businesses.
- Manage and optimise each project independently for the best local SEO results.
- If the second listing is accidental, resolve it in Google Business Profile Manager first, then remove the project in Search Atlas.
