## **🔍 Overview**

The Site Audit tool in Search Atlas crawls your website and surfaces technical SEO errors, warnings, and notices. You can export this data at any time to share with your team, track progress offline, or import it into external reporting tools. This article walks you through every step of the export process.

## **🗺️ Where to Find Your Site Audit**

Before exporting, make sure you are in the correct section of the platform:

1. Log in to your Search Atlas account.
2. In the **left sidebar**, click **OTTO SEO** → **Site Audit**.
3. Select your target project from the list. If you have not yet run a crawl, start one now and return to this guide once it completes.
4. Open the **Site Audit** page to view the audit dashboard.

You should now see a summary of your crawl results, including total errors, warnings, and notices broken down by category.

## **📋 Step 1 — Open the Error Report You Want to Export**

1. On the Site Audit dashboard, locate the **Issues** section. This lists every detected error and warning grouped by type (for example, broken links, missing meta descriptions, duplicate titles).
2. Click on a specific issue category to open its detailed report, or stay on the main **Issues** overview if you want to export all errors at once.
3. Use the **filter options** at the top of the table to narrow results by issue type, priority level (Error, Warning, Notice), or URL if needed. Filters apply before the export, so only the visible data will be included in your file.

## **💾 Step 2 — Trigger the Export**

1. With the report data visible in the table, look for the **Export to Docs** button (Site Audit Overview). It is located in the **top-right corner** of the report table, labelled **Export to Docs**.
2. Click **Export**. Search Atlas will immediately prepare your file.
3. Your browser will download the file automatically. Check your browser's default downloads folder if the file does not appear right away.

**Tip:** If you are exporting a large crawl (thousands of URLs), the file may take a few seconds to generate. Do not navigate away from the page while the download is preparing.

## **📂 Step 3 — Understand What the Export Contains**

The exported CSV file includes the following columns for each affected URL:

- **URL** — the full address of the page with the issue.
- **Issue Type** — the category of the error or warning (for example, Missing H1, Broken Internal Link).
- **Priority** — Error, Warning, or Notice.
- **Issue Description** — a plain-language explanation of what was found.
- **Discovered Date** — when the crawl first detected the issue.

You can open this file in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet tool. Sort and filter by the **Priority** column to tackle critical errors first.

## **🔄 Step 4 — Export Across Multiple Crawl Sessions**

If you want to compare error data across different crawl dates:

1. In the **left sidebar**, click **OTTO SEO** → **Crawl Monitoring** to view previous crawl sessions.
2. Select the crawl session you want to review.
3. Repeat the export steps above for each session.
4. Combine the exported CSV files in your spreadsheet tool to build a progress-over-time report.

## **✅ Step 5 — Export Specific Issue Categories Only**

To download only one type of error (for example, all broken links):

1. On the **Issues** tab, click the specific issue category you want (for example, **Broken Links**).
2. The table will now show only URLs affected by that issue.
3. Click **Export** in the top-right corner of that filtered table.
4. The downloaded file will contain only the rows visible in the current filtered view.

This is the fastest way to hand off a focused task list to a developer or content team member without sending them the full audit.

## **⚠️ Common Issues and Fixes**

- **Export button is greyed out:** A crawl must be fully completed before exporting is available. Check the crawl status indicator at the top of the audit dashboard and wait for it to show **Complete**.
- **File downloads but appears empty:** Make sure your active filters are not hiding all rows. Clear all filters and try the export again.
- **CSV opens with garbled characters:** Open the file in Google Sheets or use the **Data → Import** function in Excel and select **UTF-8** encoding.
- **Export only shows a partial list:** Some views paginate results. Always export directly from the table using the Export button rather than copying rows manually — the export captures all pages of results, not just what is visible on screen.
