## What Is Local Pack Tracking?

Local Pack tracking shows how your business appears in Google's Local Pack (the map-based results shown for location-specific searches). There are two separate requirements, and they do different things:

- **A precise location on your project (required)** — the project must be scoped to a specific city, state, or ZIP, not a country-level search. Without a precise location, Google rarely returns Local Pack results at all, so nothing will show.
- **A linked Google Business Profile (optional)** — this does NOT gate whether Local Pack data appears. It only lets the system identify which result in the Local Pack is YOUR business, so you can track your own ranking position within it. Without a linked GBP, you still see the Local Pack results, you just won't know which one is yours.

## Do You Need a Separate Project?

You do not need to create a separate project for Local Pack tracking. It runs inside your existing project, alongside standard rank tracking.

## Link Your Google Business Profile (Optional)

To track your own business's position inside the Local Pack, connect a Google Business Profile: from Home, use the project card actions and choose Google Business Profile (or go to Local → GBP Audit and choose a connected Google Business Profile), sign in with the Google account that manages your listing, and select the correct business location.

## Add Keywords to Local Pack Tracking

Open the Local Pack section within your project's rank tracking area and add the keywords you want to track. You may be prompted to select a target location and language for each keyword. Allow up to 24 hours for initial results to populate.

## Can You Transfer or Duplicate Keywords From an Existing Project?

Search Atlas does not currently offer one-click transfer or duplication of keywords between projects, or between standard rank tracking and Local Pack tracking. If you want to track the same keywords in Local Pack that you already track elsewhere, re-enter them manually in the Local Pack section.
