## **🔍 What This Error Means**

When you attempt to generate an AI article and see the message **"Folder you are looking for has been deleted or doesn't exist"**, the platform cannot locate the destination folder assigned to your content. This is a folder or permissions issue — not a quota or credit problem. Your AI article generation credits are unaffected.

This error typically appears in the **AI Content Templates** tool, but can also surface in other content generation workflows that write output to a saved folder.

## **⚠️ Common Root Causes**

- **Deleted workspace folder:** The target folder was removed by you or another team member after it was originally assigned.
- **Permission revocation:** Your user role was changed and you no longer have write access to the folder where generated articles are saved.
- **Corrupted folder path:** The folder reference stored in your template or project settings points to a path that no longer exists, often after a workspace reorganisation.
- **Shared workspace conflict:** A collaborator deleted or renamed a shared folder that your account still references.

## **🛠️ Step-by-Step Troubleshooting**

1. **Navigate to AI Content Templates.** Go to **Left sidebar → Content → AI Content Templates**. Locate the template or generation task that triggered the error.
2. **Check the assigned output folder.** Open the template settings or the generation task configuration. Look for a **Save to Folder** or **Destination** field. If it shows a folder name that no longer exists, this is the direct cause.
3. **Reassign a valid folder.** Click the folder field and select an existing folder from the dropdown. If no folders appear, you will need to create a new one first (see Step 4).
4. **Create a new folder if needed.** Inside **AI Content Templates**, use the folder management options to create a new destination folder. Give it a clear name so it is easy to identify going forward.
5. **Re-run the article generation.** With the valid folder now assigned, trigger the article generation again. The error should no longer appear and your article will save to the new location.
6. **Check your role permissions (if the error persists).** Ask your workspace admin to confirm that your user role includes write access to the selected folder. In shared or agency workspaces, folder permissions are role-dependent. The admin can adjust permissions under workspace settings.
7. **Audit other templates for the same issue.** If you use multiple AI Content Templates, review each one to ensure no other templates still reference a deleted or inaccessible folder. Updating them now prevents repeat errors.

## **✅ How to Prevent This Error in Future**

- Before deleting any folder in your workspace, check whether it is referenced in an active AI Content Template or content generation task.
- When reorganising folders, update all template destination settings to point to the new folder paths.
- If your team shares a workspace, communicate folder changes to all collaborators before making them.
- Periodically review your AI Content Templates settings to confirm all folder references are still valid.

## **❓ This Is Not a Quota Issue**

A common misconception is that this error indicates you have run out of AI article generation credits. **That is not the case.** Quota exhaustion produces a different, clearly labelled message. If you see the folder error described in this article, your credits are intact and the fix is purely a folder or permissions correction as outlined above.
