## **🔍 What Does Deleting a File Actually Do?**

When you delete a file inside Search Atlas, it is **removed only from Search Atlas** — specifically from the Media Library within the platform. Deleting a file here does **not** delete the image or asset from your live website, your hosting server, or any other platform. Your website content remains completely untouched.

Think of the Search Atlas Media Library as a workspace for managing your local business media assets. Removing a file from this workspace simply clears it from your Search Atlas account. Nothing on your live site is affected.

## **📂 Where to Find Your Files**

All uploaded files are stored in the Media Library. To access it:

1. In the left sidebar, click **Local**.
2. Select **Media Library** from the sub-menu.

Here you can view, manage, and delete individual or multiple files.

## **🗂️ How to Delete a Single File**

1. Navigate to **Left sidebar → Local → Media Library**.
2. Locate the file you want to remove.
3. Click the **delete icon** (trash can) associated with that file.
4. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

The file will be removed from your Search Atlas Media Library immediately. Your website is not affected.

## **✅ How to Delete Multiple Files at Once**

Search Atlas supports bulk deletion so you can clean up your Media Library efficiently without removing files one by one.

1. Navigate to **Left sidebar → GBP Projects → Media Library**.
2. Select the files you want to delete by clicking the **checkbox** next to each file. To select all visible files at once, use the **Select All** checkbox at the top of the list.
3. Once your files are selected, click the **Delete Selected** button that appears.
4. Confirm the bulk deletion when prompted.

All selected files will be removed from your Search Atlas account. No changes will be made to your live website.

## **⚠️ Important Things to Know Before You Delete**

- **Deletions are permanent within Search Atlas.** Once a file is removed from the Media Library, it cannot be recovered from within the platform. Make sure you no longer need the file before confirming.
- **Your website stays safe.** Deleting files in Search Atlas does not remove any content from your live website or hosting environment.
- **Bulk delete applies only to selected files.** Only files you have checked will be removed — unselected files are never affected.
- **Re-uploading is always possible.** If you delete a file by mistake, you can re-upload it to the Media Library at any time.

## **💡 Best Practices for Managing Your Media Library**

- Regularly review your Media Library and remove outdated or unused assets to keep it organised.
- Use bulk delete when cleaning up after a campaign or replacing a large set of images.
- Before deleting, confirm the file is no longer needed in any active posts or tasks within the platform.
