## **🔍 Overview**

When building custom reports in Search Atlas, you can remove individual sections directly from the **Layout** tab. The delete control is a trash can icon that only appears when you hover over a section — which is why many customers initially miss it.

## **🧭 How to Navigate to the Report Builder**

1. In the left sidebar, click **Reports**.
2. You will land on the projects list at **/report-builder/projects-list**.
3. Open an existing report or create a new one.
4. Open the **Executive Summary** and click the **Edit layout** button.

## **🗑️ How to Delete a Section**

1. In the **Edit layout** view (Executive Summary), locate the section you want to remove.
2. **Hover your cursor** over that section block. The trash can icon will appear in the top-right corner of the section.
3. Click the **trash can icon** to delete the section.
4. Confirm the deletion if prompted.

**Important:** The trash can icon is hidden by default and only becomes visible on hover. If you are not hovering directly over the section block, the icon will not appear.

## **💡 Tips for Managing Report Sections**

- **Hover precisely:** Move your cursor fully inside the section boundary to trigger the icon.
- **Undo mistakes:** If you accidentally delete a section, check whether an undo option is available in the toolbar before navigating away.
- **Reorder instead of delete:** If you only want to change a section's position, drag and drop it rather than deleting and re-adding it.
- **Save your report** after making layout changes to ensure nothing is lost.

## **🛠️ Troubleshooting**

- **Icon still not visible?** Make sure you have clicked **Edit layout** in the Executive Summary, not the **Settings** or **Preview** tab. Delete controls only appear in the Edit layout view.
- **Using a touchscreen?** Hover-triggered icons may not activate on touch devices. Try using a mouse or trackpad for full control.
- **Browser zoom level:** If your browser is zoomed in or out significantly, section controls can shift out of view. Reset zoom to 100% and try again.

Deleting a section removes it and all widgets contained within it. This action cannot be undone. If a section appears locked or the icon does not respond, check that you have the correct editing permissions for that report.
