## **🔍 Overview**

When working inside the Website Studio visual editor, it is natural to wonder whether every small change — like fixing a word or swapping a color — costs credits. This article explains exactly when credits are charged, how to make common edits, and what to do if you notice an unexpected credit deduction.

## **💳 When Are Credits Charged?**

Credits in Website Studio are only consumed when the platform **generates new AI content**. Routine visual edits do **not** cost credits. Here is a clear breakdown:

- **Charged:** Generating a new page (PPC landing page, local website, or cloned page with AI content).
- **Charged:** Using the AI chat to produce a new block, section, or large body of content from scratch.
- **Not charged:** Asking the chat to change a single word, phrase, or color on existing content.
- **Not charged:** Manually clicking and typing edits directly on the canvas.
- **Not charged:** Rearranging, resizing, or styling existing elements.

In short: if the action does not ask the AI to **write new content**, it does not use a credit.

## **✏️ How to Edit Text and Colors in the Visual Editor**

You can make quick changes directly on the canvas without using the AI chat at all:

1. Navigate to **Left sidebar → Website Studio** (URL: `/website-studio`) and open your project.
2. Click any text block on the canvas to select it. A text cursor will appear.
3. Type your changes directly — note that visual edits are a billable operation and will consume a credit.
4. To change a color, select the element, then use the style panel on the right to pick a new color value.

Asking the chat to **change a word or update a color** is treated as a visual edit, which is a billable operation and **will deduct a credit**.

## **🗑️ How to Delete a Line or Element**

If you do not see a visible delete button, follow these steps:

1. Click the text or element you want to remove to select it.
2. If it is a text line, highlight the text with your cursor and press **Backspace** or **Delete** on your keyboard.
3. If it is a full block or section, look for a toolbar that appears above or beside the selected element — it typically contains a **trash / delete icon**.
4. Alternatively, right-click the selected element to open a context menu with a **Delete** or **Remove** option.
5. If the element is part of a locked or AI-generated template group, you may need to **ungroup** it first before deleting individual lines.

## **⚠️ Known Credit Issues — Already Fixed**

Our engineering team has resolved several credit-related bugs in Website Studio. You no longer need to worry about the following:

- **Duplicate charges:** Some customers were previously charged twice for a single page generation. This has been corrected.
- **Credit reservation leak:** Credits were occasionally held without being properly released after a cancelled or failed generation. The reservation system has been hardened to prevent this.
- **Incorrect credit count display:** The credit counter sometimes showed the wrong number, and the loading spinner continued after credits ran out. Both the display and the loader now reflect the correct state.
If you experienced any of these issues before, your account should now reflect accurate credit usage. If you believe credits were deducted incorrectly and were not refunded, please reach out via the chat widget.

## **💡 Tips to Avoid Unexpected Credit Use**

- Use **direct canvas editing** (clicking and typing) for small text fixes — note that visual edits are billable.
- Reserve AI chat prompts for tasks that genuinely require new content generation.
- Check your credit balance before starting a new page generation by reviewing the credit counter in the platform header.
- If a generation fails or stalls, wait a moment before retrying — the system now handles reservation release automatically.

## **🛠️ Still Have Questions?**

If you need further assistance, open the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the platform and type **human teammate** to be connected with a member of our team.

## **Additional Notes**

Every chat message that results in a change consumes one credit, regardless of how small. Combine multiple changes into a single message to save credits. Example: 'Change the hero headline to X and update the button color to dark blue' counts as one credit instead of two.
