When you create articles in **Content Genius**, they often start life in the **Not Begun** stage. This means the article has been added to your queue but writing has not yet been triggered. This guide explains what that stage means and walks you through pushing your articles so they get written.

## **📋 What the 'Not Begun' stage means**

The **Not Begun** stage is the starting point for every article. At this point, the topic, target keyword, and any settings you chose are saved, but the platform has not yet generated the content. Articles stay in this stage until you tell the platform to begin writing them.

Common reasons articles sit in **Not Begun** include:

- The writing process was never started after the article was added.
- Required fields, such as a keyword or title, are still incomplete.
- The articles were imported or queued in bulk and are waiting for action.

## **🚀 How to push an article to be written**

Follow these steps to move one or more articles into the writing process:

1. Open **Content → Content Genius** (What are we writing today?) from the main menu.
2. Locate the articles listed under the **Not Begun** stage.
3. Review each article to confirm the title, target keyword, and settings are correct.
4. Select the article you want to write, or tick the checkboxes for several articles at once.
5. Click the **Write with AI in Bulk** or **Generate** button to start the process.
6. Confirm your choice if a prompt appears.

Once started, the articles move out of **Not Begun** and into an in-progress or writing stage.

## **⚡ Writing several articles at once**

If you have a backlog of articles in the **Not Begun** stage, you do not need to start them one by one. Use the checkboxes to select multiple articles, then trigger the write action in a single step. This is the fastest way to clear a large queue and keep your content pipeline moving.

## **📊 Tracking progress after you start**

After you push an article to be written, its stage will update automatically. You can watch each article move through the stages until it is complete and ready for review. Keep the page open or refresh it to see the latest status.

If an article does not move forward after you start it, check that all required fields are filled in and that you have enough article credits available on your plan.

## **🛠️ Troubleshooting common issues**

- **Articles will not start:** Confirm the title and target keyword are complete, then try again.
- **Nothing happens after clicking write:** Refresh the page and check your remaining credits.
- **Articles stay in Not Begun in bulk:** Re-select the articles and trigger the write action once more.
- **Articles created from a bulk spreadsheet (Sheets) import stay in Not Begun:** This was a known issue that has since been resolved. If you still see it, refresh the page and re-trigger the write action; if the articles remain stuck, contact our team.
- **An article appears stuck on 'Not Begun' right after you submit Write with AI:** This was a previously reported issue that has been fixed. Refresh the page to confirm the stage has updated, and if it has not moved, start the write action again.

## **Additional Notes**

DKN (Domain Knowledge Network) method: uses your domain expertise and existing content patterns to generate content, as an alternative to AI writing. Also: only manually created articles start as Not Begun; AI/DKN-generated articles are complete by default.

Generation modes: Auto-Generate (fully automated; AI handles research, outline, and writing end-to-end) vs Step-by-Step (lets you review and approve the outline before writing begins). Also: a Brand Vault (domain) must be assigned to the project before generation can run correctly. Articles take ~2–3 minutes; bulk selections queue sequentially.
