# **🔍 Overview**

When OTTO scans your website, it detects the total number of pages on your site. However, the number of pages shown inside specific issue sections — such as **Title Tags**, **Meta Descriptions**, or **Heading Tags** — may be lower than the total page count. This is expected behaviour, not a bug.

For example, OTTO might detect **16 total pages** on your site but only display **3 pages** in the Title Tags section. This article explains why this happens and what you can do about it.

# **💡 Why the Page Counts Differ**

OTTO's total page count reflects every URL it discovered during the site crawl. Issue sections, however, only list pages that have a specific problem detected. Pages that already meet best-practice standards for a given element are not included in that section because they require no action.

- **Total pages detected:** All URLs found during the crawl, regardless of their SEO health.
- **Pages in an issue section:** Only the URLs where OTTO identified a problem with that specific element (e.g., a missing, duplicate, or too-long title tag).

If 13 out of 16 pages have well-optimised title tags, only the remaining 3 pages — those with a title tag issue — will appear in the Title Tags section. This focused view is intentional so you can act on problems without sifting through pages that are already optimised.

# **⚙️ Common Reasons a Page May Not Appear in an Issue Section**

- The page already has a compliant title tag, meta description, or heading structure.
- The page was excluded from a specific check because it is a tag page, archive page, or other non-primary URL type.
- The page was crawled but OTTO determined it does not require optimisation for that particular element.
- The crawl is still in progress and not all pages have been fully analysed yet.

# **✅ How to Verify Your Site Is Fully Scanned**

1. Go to **OTTO SEO** in the left sidebar, then open **SEO Automation** (or navigate to **/seo-automation-v3**).
2. Open your OTTO session for the relevant website.
3. Check the **total pages detected** figure shown in the OTTO dashboard header.
4. Confirm the crawl status shows **Complete**. If a crawl is still running, wait for it to finish before reviewing issue sections.
5. Once the crawl is complete, review each issue section individually. The pages listed in each section are exclusively those needing attention for that specific issue.

# **🛠️ What to Do If Pages Seem to Be Missing**

If you believe a page should appear in an issue section but does not, follow these steps:

1. **Re-crawl your site.** In your OTTO session, trigger a fresh crawl to ensure the latest version of each page is analysed. New or recently updated pages may not have been included in the previous crawl.
2. **Check for excluded URLs.** Review whether the missing page's URL pattern has been excluded from scanning in your OTTO settings.
3. **Inspect the page directly.** Manually verify whether the page truly has the issue you expect. If the element is already optimised, OTTO will correctly omit it from that section.
4. **Review filters.** Make sure no active filters inside the issue section are hiding certain pages from view.

# **📊 Understanding Your True SEO Coverage**

To get a complete picture of all pages and their individual SEO statuses, use the **Site Metrics (Site Explorer)** section in the left sidebar. This area gives you broader visibility into your site's overall performance and can help you cross-reference which URLs have been crawled and how they are performing across different metrics.

Remember: a lower page count in an issue section is a **positive signal** — it means fewer pages need fixing. Focus your effort on the pages that are listed, resolve each issue, and re-run the crawl to confirm the fixes are reflected.
