The OTTO Pixel is a small tracking snippet that connects your Shopify store to OTTO SEO inside Search Atlas. Installing it allows OTTO to read your site's data, identify SEO opportunities, and deploy optimisations directly to your pages.

# **📍 Where to Find Your OTTO Pixel Code**

The OTTO Pixel code is located inside the **OTTO SEO** section of your Search Atlas dashboard. Follow these steps to locate it:

1. Log in to your **Search Atlas** account.
2. In the left sidebar, click **OTTO SEO**, then open **SEO Automation** inside it. The URL will change to **/seo-automation-v3**.
3. If you have not yet activated OTTO for your site, you will be prompted to set up a new OTTO session. Complete the setup steps to reach your OTTO dashboard.
4. Once inside your OTTO dashboard, look for the **Pixel Installation** or **Connect Your Site** option. Your unique Pixel code snippet will be displayed here.
5. Click **Copy** to copy the full snippet to your clipboard.

# **🛒 How to Add the OTTO Pixel to Your Shopify Theme**

Once you have copied your Pixel code, follow these steps to install it on your Shopify store:

1. Log in to your **Shopify Admin** at **your-store.myshopify.com/admin**.
2. In the left sidebar, go to **Online Store → Themes**.
3. Next to your active theme, click the **three-dot menu (⋯)** and select **Edit code**.
4. In the file explorer on the left, open the **Layout** folder and click **theme.liquid**.
5. Locate the closing **</head>** tag in the file. Paste your OTTO Pixel snippet **immediately before** this tag.
6. Click **Save** in the top-right corner.

The Pixel is now live on every page of your Shopify store. OTTO will begin collecting data within a few minutes.

# **✅ How to Verify the Pixel Is Working**

After installation, return to your OTTO dashboard in Search Atlas. You should see one of the following:

- A **green status indicator** or **"Pixel Detected"** confirmation message.
- Site data beginning to populate in your OTTO dashboard within 5–10 minutes.

If the status still shows as undetected after 10 minutes, double-check that you saved the **theme.liquid** file and that the snippet was pasted before the closing **</head>** tag, not after it.

# **⚠️ Common Issues and Quick Fixes**

- **Cannot find the Pixel code:** Make sure you have completed the OTTO onboarding flow inside OTTO SEO. The Pixel code only appears after a site session has been created.
- **Editing the wrong theme:** Ensure you are editing your **active (published) theme**, not a draft or unpublished theme.
- **Changes not saving:** Shopify may time out after periods of inactivity. Re-open **theme.liquid**, paste the snippet again, and save immediately.
- **Pixel not detected after installation:** Clear your browser cache, reload the Search Atlas dashboard, and wait a few more minutes for the signal to register.
