When it comes to auditing websites, JavaScript rendering plays a significant role in how changes are seen by crawlers. While some third-party tools offer settings to enable JavaScript rendering, it’s important to understand how this applies to Search Atlas’ Site Auditor.
Current Limitations of Search Atlas Site Auditor
As of now, the Search Atlas Site Auditor does not support JavaScript rendering. This means that while it effectively crawls and audits static content on a webpage, it remains “blind” to any modifications made via JavaScript. For websites that rely heavily on JavaScript to inject content or alter the user experience, the Site Auditor may not detect these changes.
For example, if your website uses JavaScript-based automation tools to adjust page elements, the current version of the Search Atlas Site Auditor may not reflect those updates in its audit report. It cannot "see" JavaScript-rendered changes at the moment.
The Search Atlas Approach to Fixing This
While the Search Atlas Site Auditor currently lacks this functionality, our team is actively working to improve it. The goal is to enable JavaScript rendering in future updates, allowing our auditor to detect all changes, including those made by JavaScript.
However, just because the auditor does not show that an issue has been fixed doesn’t mean it hasn’t been resolved. The key question is whether Google can see the changes—because ultimately, Google does support JavaScript rendering.
If your website is designed with JavaScript modifications, be reassured that while the Search Atlas auditor might not display the updates now, they are still visible to search engines like Google.
Moving Forward
The Search Atlas team is committed to continuous improvement, and we are working to implement the necessary updates to our Site Auditor. This will bring it in line with industry-leading crawlers that support JavaScript rendering. In the meantime, it’s crucial to ensure that your website changes are properly optimized for search engines that do render JavaScript.
Stay tuned for future updates as we work toward making the Site Auditor even more robust!
